The MERIT Assistant is built for government contracting business development. Use it when you want help making sense of a pursuit, preparing for a capture conversation, finding relevant partner context, or moving faster through routine BD work. The assistant can use information available in your MERIT workspace, but it does not replace your team’s judgment. Treat its answers as a starting point for review, discussion, and follow-up.

Open the assistant

Look for the MERIT Assistant button in the bottom-right corner of signed-in pages. Click it to open the chat panel. Type your question and click Send, or press Enter to send. Use Shift+Enter when you want to add a new line. Messages can be up to 2,000 characters. The panel also includes controls to start a new conversation, expand the assistant, stop a running response, or close the panel.

What to ask

You can ask the assistant for help with common BD workflows:

Review your pipeline

Ask for a summary of active pursuits, upcoming priorities, or opportunities that may need attention.

Prepare for a pursuit

Ask for a quick refresher on a pursuit before a meeting, capture review, or internal discussion.

Explore partner fit

Ask for help thinking through teammate options, capability gaps, or partner search criteria.

Research company context

Ask about company details, registration context, or publicly available firm information when it is relevant to BD work.

Work through capture strategy

Ask for help framing go/no-go considerations, capture questions, win themes, or next steps.

Draft workspace updates

Ask the assistant to suggest updates to a pursuit. You review and approve any proposed changes before they are saved.

Example prompts

Try prompts like:
  • “Summarize my active pursuits.”
  • “What should I review before the next capture meeting?”
  • “Help me think through partner gaps for this opportunity.”
  • “Draft suggested updates for this pursuit based on what we discussed.”
  • “What questions should we answer before making a bid decision?”
For best results, be specific about the pursuit, agency, partner type, or decision you are working on.

Proposed edits

When the assistant suggests changes to a pursuit, MERIT shows the proposed update in the chat panel for review. The card includes the assistant’s rationale and the fields it wants to change. Use Approve to apply the proposed update, or Reject to discard it. Some proposals may ask for an extra confirmation before approval when the change affects important pursuit details.
The assistant does not directly edit your opportunity records. Proposed opportunity changes require your approval before they are saved.

What the assistant will not do

The MERIT Assistant is intentionally focused on GovCon BD. It may decline requests that are outside that scope. It also will not:
  • Replace your team’s bid/no-bid decision
  • Write a full proposal for submission
  • Apply opportunity edits without approval
  • Guarantee that external registration or market information is complete

Usage limits

The assistant has usage limits to keep performance consistent across MERIT. If you reach a limit, the chat panel will show a message and let you know when to try again.
If a response does not look right, refine your prompt with more context or update the pursuit first, then ask again.
