# Set up your MeritMatch account

> Create your account, connect your company, complete your profile, and invite your team.

<Info>
  You can create your account at [meritmatch.io](https://meritmatch.io). All paid plans include a **14-day free trial** with no credit card required.
</Info>

## Step 1: Create your account

Go to [meritmatch.io](https://meritmatch.io) and click **Get started**.

Enter your **work email**, choose a **password**, and confirm it. Your password must be at least 8 characters and include an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number, and a special character. The strength meter must reach **Strong** before you can continue.

Prefer a faster start? Click **Sign in with Google** to skip the password step entirely.

<Tip>
  Use your company email address — it helps teammates find the right workspace when they sign up.
</Tip>

## Step 2: Connect your company

After creating your account, MERIT asks you to connect to a company. This is step 2 of 2 in the signup flow. How you complete this step depends on your situation.

<Tabs>
  <Tab title="Starting a new workspace">
    Search for your company by name. MERIT shows matching company records when they are available.

    Click your company's card to select it.

    **Don't see your company?** Click **Company Not Found? Create New Company**, type your company name, and MERIT creates a fresh workspace for you. You become the workspace owner.

    Before finishing, check the box to agree to the **Terms of Service** and **Privacy Policy**, then click **Complete Registration**.
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Joining a teammate's workspace">
    If someone on your team is already using MERIT, they can generate an invite code from **Settings → Company** so you join their existing workspace instead of creating a new one.

    On the company selection screen, enter the invite code in the **Invite code** field at the top of the page. MERIT validates the code and shows you the company name it belongs to. Confirm it looks right, agree to the **Terms of Service** and **Privacy Policy**, and click **Complete Registration**.

    You join the workspace with **read-only access** by default. The workspace owner assigns you a full-access seat from **Settings → Billing** once you're in.

    <Note>
      If you don't have an invite code, you can still search for and select your company. Ask your workspace owner to assign you a seat after you join.
    </Note>
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="No company yet">
    If you are not affiliated with a company right now, click **Continue as Solo User** at the bottom of the company selection screen. You can join a company later from settings.
  </Tab>
</Tabs>

## Step 3: Complete your personal profile

After signup you land on the pipeline dashboard. Head to **Settings → Profile** to fill in your personal information.

| Field                    | Notes                                                            |

## Step 4: Complete your company profile

Go to **Settings → Company** to fill in your firm's information. A complete company profile helps MERIT provide better opportunity context, partner context, and workspace records.

**Company information:**

* **Company name and website** - keep these current so teammates recognize the workspace
* **Agencies served** - list agencies your firm has worked with or actively pursues
* **Company overview** - summarize what your firm does and who you serve

**Government codes:**

* **UEI** - your Unique Entity Identifier from SAM.gov
* **CAGE Code** - your Commercial and Government Entity code
* **DUNS Number** - your Dun & Bradstreet identifier
* **NAICS Codes** - add the codes your firm actively pursues

**Capabilities and credentials:**

* **Core Capabilities** - plain-language descriptions of what your firm does
* **Certifications and self-certifications** - add the designations your team uses in federal contracting
* **Contract vehicles** - add relevant contract vehicles when they apply

**Documents and logo:**

* **Company Logo** - upload the logo your team wants to use in MERIT
* **Capability Statements** - upload current capability statement PDFs
* **Past Performance Documents** - upload past performance write-ups in PDF, DOC, or DOCX format

<Tip>
  Start with **UEI** and **NAICS Codes** if you have them. They make company context and opportunity workflows more useful.
</Tip>

## Step 5: Invite your team

If you are on a paid plan with more than one seat, you can invite teammates by generating an **invite code**.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Generate an invite code">
    Go to **Settings → Company** and scroll to **Invite Team Members**. Click **Generate Invite Code**. A unique code is created.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Share the code">
    Copy the invite code and send it to your teammate — by email, Slack, or however your team communicates. There is no email invite sent automatically.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Teammate signs up and enters the code">
    Your teammate goes to [meritmatch.io](https://meritmatch.io), creates an account, and enters the invite code on the company selection screen. They join your workspace automatically.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Assign a seat">
    New teammates join with read-only access. The workspace owner can go to **Settings → Billing** to see the member list and click **Assign seat** next to a teammate's name.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  You can generate multiple invite codes and manage active codes from **Settings → Company**.
</Note>

## Access levels

MERIT has two access levels for workspace members:

| Access level | What they can do |
| --------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Full access** | Create and edit opportunities, use the Gate Tracker, run SAM searches, use the MERIT Assistant, manage documents and tasks |
| **Read-only** | View the pipeline, Gate Tracker fields, documents, and tasks — no editing or creating |

The workspace **owner** always has full access and manages billing and seat assignments. Company and invite controls appear in settings for users who have the right workspace permissions.
